DELOS Series 2B1

You met Tal
and Wyatt’s in Tangled Pursuit, book 2 in the Delos Series. Read their
continued story.

Captain Talia Culver risked her heart again for Navy SEAL Wyatt Lockwood. The
brave, cocky Texan was worth the risk and Talia couldn’t be happier. Still
recovering from injuries she received from her last mission in Afghanistan,
Wyatt whisks her away to meet his family on their sprawling Texas ranch. But
things don’t go as planned when Wyatt hears the local gossip that his drug
dealing ex-friend is out of prison and planning a drug run across the Lockwood
ranch. Wyatt wants to enjoy some hard-earned down time with Tal, but he can’t
ignore the danger at his backdoor.

As Wyatt plans a dangerous operation to catch the drug dealers, Tal fears she
could lose the man she loves.

“How’s that ankle of yours feelin’?” Wyatt asked Tal. He had her sitting comfortably on his old brass bed, leaning against the headboard, pillows behind her back, her bad ankle over his thigh as he gently massaged it.

“Mmm, better,” Tal said, closing her eyes.

“Did you take your medication?” Wyatt asked her, sliding a glance her way. She had just come out of the bathroom after soaking in the old claw-foot bathtub. Her black hair was still up in a mussed topknot. She looked tired, and he knew traveling with her bum ankle had taken a toll on her. Tal would never complain about pain. It just wasn’t part of her makeup. As a Marine Corps sniper, she’d always worked hurt. It might not have been broken bones like this, but, as a mountain goat climbing around in the Hindu Kush of Afghanistan, out in brutal weather and other harsh conditions, bruises, cuts, scrapes, and even a strain were tolerated so she could successfully finish a mission.

“No, you know I didn’t.”

Wyatt chuckled and continued to tenderly ease the swelling out of her once-crushed ankle. He did this every night when they were home, and he especially wanted to do it when he was on the road with her. “I think we did a little too much walking around the ranch this afternoon. Your ankle is really swollen. Sure you aren’t in pain?” He knew she was and saw her lips flex at his needling her about it.

“I’ll take some ibuprofen to get you off my back, Lockwood.”

Chuckling, he said, “I’m such a pest to you, Ms. Culver.” The corners of her lips lifted and she opened her eyes.

“You are a royal pain in the ass sometimes, on that we agree.”

“But,” Wyatt said lightly, moving his fingers down from below her knee to her ankle and then beginning to massage her foot, “there are other times, Ms. Culver, you really enjoy having me around.”

“That is very true, cowboy. Good thing those times outweigh the pain-in-the-ass times, huh?”

Seeing the sparkle of teasing in her green eyes, Wyatt moved his hand over the red flannel robe she wore on top of her white flannel pajamas. “Indeed.” He felt her begin to relax as he pushed the fluid out of her ankle area. “Feelin’ a little better, darlin’?”

“Oh,” she sighed, “much . . . I don’t know what I’d do without you, Wyatt. You spoil me rotten.”

“I’m better than any meds you aren’t taking.”

“I don’t like drugs, Wyatt, so don’t climb on that bandwagon tonight, okay?”

“Miss Grumpy, are we?”

She couldn’t stay irritable long with Wyatt around. He had that Texas good-ol’-boy attitude, was a terrible tease in a nice way, and inevitably lifted her out of her low mood. “Hey, getting serious for a moment?”

“I’m always serious where you’re concerned,” Wyatt drawled, giving her a warm look.

She snorted. “Yes, you’ve been acting like a mother hen with me all day today. Shadowing me, keeping a hand on my elbow or against the small of my back in case I might stumble and fall.”

“Ah, the truth comes out now.” His lips quirked.

“I’m not going to use a cane while I’m here, Wyatt. That’s all there is to it. And you need to let me walk on my own and stop hovering around me as if I’m going to fall on my ass any second.”

He moved his fingers to her arch, hearing her groan with pleasure. “Okay, I’ll stop being a mother hen with you. Fair enough?”

“Yes . . . thank you.”

“My family does not see you as a weak woman, darlin’. They know you’re one tough Marine.”

“I just hate showing up like this,” she muttered.

“We all have our prideful moments,” Wyatt said amiably, working each of her toes, hearing her groan with more pleasure. Tal loved to have her feet massaged.

Book Blitz – The Final Chase

Title: The Final Chase

Series: Final Love #2

Author: Jessica Florence

Release Date: June 21, 2016

I never thought a wallaby, Henley shirts, and a horse’s rectal exam would have anything in common.

Turns out they did.

Jake Wild. Owner of Wild rescue for exotic animals.

He’s everything I’m not, my polar opposite.

I’m heels and my salon,

He’s dirt and his creatures.

But much like the animals he cares for, he’s got that carnal edge

He’s the type of man you crawl on your hands and knees for with your ass up in the air.

He bites, he’s on the hunt, and now I’m his prey

A chance meeting and a bet started the undeniable attraction between us.

But I’m not giving my heart and soul away that easy, he’s going to have to catch me first.

It’s the ultimate game of cat and mouse,

But will it be the Final Chase?

“I feel like we should explore this,” he announced. I stared at him like he sprouted two more heads.  Speaking of heads, I was feeling something pressed against my tummy. Something hard and delicious.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I tried, going for plausible denial.

“I’m an animal, remember? I like the chase and I will catch my prey.” He walked us back so I was against the wall with his arms caging me in. Why was this so hot? He was a stranger! Well, sort of.

“I’m not prey. And I don’t like to be chased,” I countered, even though I’m pretty sure it was a lie.

“Of course you do. Ask me how I know.” His head leaned in, close enough that I felt his breath caress my lips. Oh Lord.

“Tell me, oh wise one.” My voice was breathy and hoarse.

“You’re an alpha, a leader. You need a man who will pursue you for your affections, and who will prove he is the better man overall. A man who will take care of your every need. Hard. Slow. Soft. Fast. A man who gives you the world, while giving you stability. You need an equal. An alpha,” he purred and I think I just orgasmed. God, now I know what Rayne felt like when Arson was all “I’m your fucks and flowers.” I wanted to jump up on this man’s cock and go to town.

“That’s where you’re wrong, kitten. We are completely different. We wouldn’t even know what to do with each other, let alone try for stability. It would never work. But lovely words.” It was better for me in the long run. He was hot and wild. He was an animal.

“So the chase begins. Remember my words, sweetheart. The longer you run, the sweeter it will be when I catch you. And I will catch you.” Orgasm number two? Maybe? For a moment, we just stared at each other. A sort of challenge, if you will. I was determined to fight this. He was determined to chase. This was going to be interesting, one way or the other. Either we would collide and fuck like animals, or it would end in nothing.

Blurb:

What is a Bogan? Answer: an uncouth or unsophisticated person regarded as being of low social status. And that’s where the fun begins!

Contemporary romance and best-selling author Charmaine Ross sweeps readers away with another heart-pounding romance with an unlikely ‘My Fair Lady’ meets ‘Cinderella’ twist.

Being picked off the streets and thrust into the political arena of disgraced politician Drake Wilson is challenging on so many levels. But Sally Foster is up for a challenge. Besides, chances like the one on offer doesn’t come to girls like her. Ever. She has to grab this chance with both hands and succeed for the sake of her family. She’s used to handling hard situations, but she’s never had a situation quite like the gorgeous Rhys James, Drake’s assistant, educating her day in night out. Her instant attraction is all consuming — and totally off-limits.

Rhys’ perfect world is turned upside down the moment Sally Foster blunders her way into Drake’s ‘Education for the Masses’ political campaign. If Rhys can succeed and transform Sally Foster, he can transform anyone and Drake’s policy will be funded to help thousands. The challenge isn’t so much the jaw-dropping elocution lessons, or Sally’s colourful language, or even her metamorphosis into an exquisite beauty at the hands of Drake’s personal image professionals. The challenge is keeping his hands and rebellious desires at bay.

Sally is fiery, tempestuous — and the most refreshingly honest woman that has ever walked into his life. Rhys must keep Sally at arm’s distance, but the more they spend time together, the more difficult that becomes.

What’s a girl to do when she’s way out of her league and temptation is just too great to ignore?

A beautifully written contemporary romance story that will sweep you off your feet.

Read An Excerpt…

She peeked out into the hallway. The house was very quiet and very empty. She knew her way to the front door, but that was about it. She’d been taken promptly to her room last night as it had been so late. Her clothes would have to be in a laundry, which would logically be on the first floor towards the back of the house. She flew down the stairs, the carpet making her steps silent and as she reached the foyer, the front door opened before she fb-advert-3could dash away unseen.
Rhys stepped inside. His navy business suit hugged every hot-point of his body. The pants stretched on long, lean legs, the jacket enhanced the square line of his shoulder and leanness of his stomach. He wore a crisp white shirt that was tucked neatly into his waist. He smoothed his tie as he moved through the door. He was as suave today as he had been yesterday at the Town Hall. She didn’t realise business suits could be sexy, but on Rhys, it certainly grabbed her attention.
His mouth twitched before he quickly hid it beneath a serious veneer. He cleared his throat. ‘I see Sue found something for you to wear.’
She crossed her arms over her chest. ‘Yes, but light blue track-suits borrowed from five foot nothing Malaysian ladies isn’t my size or style. Look, the legs finish half way down me … my … leg.’ She indicated the hem of the pants flapping about her shin. ‘I was tryin’ to find my clothes from yesterday but they went missing. These were the only things I found and I’m not wearing ‘em any longer than I have to. I look bloody ridiculous.’
Drake came through the door then and also stopped short when he saw her. ‘It is you.’ He peered at her, eyes narrowing and wiggled a finger at her. ‘I almost didn’t recognise you without those sludgy black lines beneath your eyes. You’ll need to do something with that hair, though. Those dark roots make your hair look all greasy. Definitely need to get your hair done before the media catch you looking like that.’
Sally ran a self-conscious hand though her hair. She would have bought hair dye but she’d run short last week. The kids had been hungry when she’d picked them up from school and she’d taken them to Maccas as a treat. They didn’t get many of them.
Sally latched back onto Drake’s voice. ‘Get Mel in, can you Rhys. I can’t have her going around with hair like that. The media are on the look-out for her. Especially O’Brien. You know Suzie, you could be pretty with the proper hair and make-up. Anyway, we’ll see. Come along, there’s no time to lose; I’ve promised Ian Armstrong from Political Correspondent on the ABC you’ll attend an interview sometime in the near future. Marcy Dovenich just called and wants an bogan-chick-1-2interview. I can’t believe I’m saying this. The word is getting out about you already!’
Drake shuffled past Rhys and Sally and into an office adjacent to the foyer Sally hadn’t noticed before now. He hovered in the doorway, nose deep in a folder he held. ‘Rhys, you’ll need to start with elocution. And please, make sure to teach her to talk from her mouth. Not her nose.’ He made a face and shuddered before closing the doors on them.
Rhys really needed to have to talk to Drake about the way to spoke about Sally. Drake was known for being able to talk around a deaf man, but he seemed to be totally clueless when it came to Sally. It wasn’t as if this was a half-baked plan. They’d been preparing something like this for a year now. Maybe it was just the circumstances in which Sally was engaged were dubious. And that was completely Drake’s fault.
‘I also don’t have any make-up.’ She swiped her fingers over her face, as though she was embarrassed.
She was fresh-faced, her skin still pink from her recent shower. Without the barrier of that thick black gunk around her eyes, she looked—vulnerable. Young. She smelt of her recent shower. She’d used a florally shampoo with something vanilla-y. There was also a hint of something else that wasn’t artificial. Cinnamon. Her personal brand.
The door to the office opened and Drake poked his head out. ‘Oh and Suzie … don’t think about stealing anything. I have digi-cams located all through this house. I see everything.’
Sally stared open-mouthed at the now shut door. ‘Did he just accuse me of stealing?’
‘Just warning you off stealing. It came out all wrong. Listen.’ Rhys grasped her upper arm as she started to stalk toward Drake’s door. He was surprised at how strong she was for such a slight woman. He let his hand slide down her arm to hold her hand. Warm, soft fingers linked his, fitting together just like they were always meant to. He reluctantly let her go when she stopped walking, liking the feel of her simple touch. ‘Let’s get started. Clothes first, okay?’
She jabbed a thumb over her shoulder at the door. ‘’e’s gunna get it one day.’
‘Temper, Sally.’
A muscle worked her jaw. ‘How can he say that? I haven’t even been here for a day and ‘es accusing me of stealing! Do I look like someone who’s gunna rip ‘im off? Well, do I?’
She didn’t look anything of the sort. She looked like an oversized kitten you didn’t want to anger dressed in a ridiculous, ill-fitting track-suit. Her cheeks were flushed with indignant red, instead of that beguiling pink and her luscious mouth was stretched into a tense line. He liked it when her lips were softer, plumper. They were like that when she didn’t think anyone was looking at her. When she relaxed. She had very kissable lips when she was relaxed. He suddenly wondered what it would be like to press his lips against her pillowy soft mouth. Wondered if they would feel as good as they looked.

Blurb:

Slavery, or mate to an Alien Commander? Which would you choose?

Paris had lost her parents at a young age and instead of going into the foster system, she ended up on the streets. Sure, life was tough for a 17 year old girl with no one to turn to, but she made her way on the streets of Los Angeles for years. That is, until one day when she was no longer on the streets.

Commander Venay of the V’Zenian Empire was a man on a mission. It was his responsibility to ensure a good lot of human slaves made it back to his planet each year. But this time it was different, he saw her across a field and knew he had to have her, at all costs.

The choice was simple, Paris could be a slave on the V’Zenian home world, or she could become Venay’s mate and provide him with the offspring his people so desperately needed! However, sometimes things aren’t as simple as they seem, especially when another alien species wants the humans for their own nefarious reasons.

Come and join J.L. Hendricks on her next voyage! Worlds Away is the first in a Sci-Fi Romantic/Adventure trilogy where aliens abduct women for more than just slavery, they abduct them to continue their own race! If you like Ruby Lionsdrake, then you will enjoy Worlds Away! This is a mostly clean romance with an HEA in each book. If it were a movie, it would be PG-13.

Excerpt One…paperback-of-worlds-away

The claxon bells were going off all over the ship, and the crew rushed to and fro as they took their duty stations to prepare for the inevitable. “Rotna, get off the comm with your mate. NOW is the time to focus on the ship, not some female.” the Commander yelled as he gave Rotna a stern frown and pointed to the weapons console.
Rotna usually manned the weapons console during battles. However it has been a few years since this crew had seen any battles. All had been calm during these trips until this one.
“I must go now, stay safe and know that I love you!” Rotna ended his comm with his mate and focused back on the weapons console, but he was too late. A charged torpedo hit the side of the ship where Rotna was stationed. The console discharged an energy blast that threw him against the metallic desk that housed the science scanners behind him. His back hit the hard surface, and he fell to the ground unconscious.
“Someone get a medic here immediately! I need my weapons officer back on task. “The Commander gave Rotna one more look and arched an eyebrow with the realization he wouldn’t get his weapons officer back on duty any time soon. The ship warbled as another torpedo hit a different spot on the same side of the ship. All of the warriors on the bridge looked to the Commander as he stumbled to the weapons console. His second in command made his way to the weapons station from across the bridge.
The Commander loaded and launched four torpedoes and sent them off one after the other in rapid fire towards the enemy ship that had attacked them. This enemy had agreed to a tentative truce some years back, and would on occasion play chicken with the V’Zenian ships, but they never would have openly attacked like this.
“Eereen, fire the laser cannons at will and target their port engine. Let’s see if we can’t damage their ship enough to keep them from firing any more torpedoes,” the Commander yelled as he handed over the weapons con to his First Officer.
“Yes, Sir!” Eereen stated as he sat at the console. He quickly reviewed the ship in front of them and targeted the port side engines with both laser cannons and another round of torpedoes. He had to be careful since they did not have many left. This ship should not have seen any combat on this trip. It was only on a trip to Earth to pick up another load of slaves and possible mates for their species. In the four trips he has made, they never saw anything more than space dust in their path.
The Chief Engineer reported to the Commander, “Sir, that last set of torpedoes damaged our engines along with the artificial gravity generator. I sent men to fix them, but I can’t guarantee that parts of the ship will have enough gravity to function normally.”
“Listen up, this is the Commander. We have an issue with our gravity generator and certain areas could intermittently lose artificial gravity. Use the hand rails if you must move about the ship, otherwise strap in and prepare for a bumpy flight.” The Commander knew that his slaves in the holding cells had nothing to help them stay secure. He briefly wondered if he shouldn’t release their cell doors so they could at least find some seats to strap themselves into. But before he could think of it anymore, another round of torpedoes made their way past the energy shield his ship had up.
“Someone tell me how those torpedoes are making their way past our shields! They should not have access to such technology! I want a solution before they blow us out of the universe! And I want something that will destroy them- five minutes ago!” The Commander sat down and strapped himself into his command chair. Then reviewed the schematics they had of the enemy ship based on their scans over the past twelve hours.

worlds-away-99c-sale-adExcerpt Two…

“Oh stink, this is real isn’t it?” I started to slink down on the floor as my body began to register the movement in space and my eyes confirmed what I was feeling. All of my senses were on overdrive, I could even taste the oxygen that had been pumped into the room. It almost felt like I was drowning.
Venay reached down and picked me up. He held me to his side while walking me back to the couch. “Are you ok? Is the oxygen mixture too high for you?” He was looking me over and paying close attention to my chest, but in this case I believed he was watching me take shallow breaths.
“Why can I taste the air? I shouldn’t be able to do that.” I looked at him with a raised eyebrow while breathing in deep.
“We have an increased level of oxygen when we first leave the planet. Over the years we have discovered that humans tend to pass out easily unless we do this. Your bodies have a difficult time processing oxygen while in shock as we are leaving your solar system. But once we get moving your bodies adjust. They really are quite adaptable to most environments. Another reason our ancestors chose your people to integrate with us.” He puffed up his chest and sat up straighter. It looked like he took great pride in the fact that his ancestors abducted and experimented on humans.
That just made me angry. “How could you take pride in the fact that your species has been kidnapping my people for two centuries? What do you do with my people? Do you force yourselves on the women? Force the men to be your slaves and do your hard labor?” I fisted my hands at my side and debated if I should hit him or try to run again. Although, I knew running wasn’t an option at this point. It was at this point that I truly believed he was an alien and I was in space. Not sure how this all happened, but there it was.
He didn’t answer me at first, he looked back towards the porthole and watched space as we hurtled through it. I had to admit, it was quite beautiful and oddly enough, calming. I felt myself relaxing and let go of my fisted hands and my shoulders started to loosen up as well.
“Paris, I will admit, our ancestors were not the most civilized. But we are very different now. We never force a woman to mate with us. If we take a human mate, she is very willing…” He looked at me and his eyes dilated while he gave me a smoldering smile.
“Hey now, don’t go getting any ideas about me. I am NOT to be used as a breeding mare. No one who abducts me will be using me as a slave either. Stockholm Syndrome won’t be my downfall.” I got up and walked over to the open porthole and sighed as I watched the stars zoom past. I put my arm on the side of the porthole and leaned into it and whispered, “I will find my way home again.”
“I chose you because you are my mate. I could feel it across the field when our eyes met. You felt it too, I know you did. The connection was visible on your face and when I touched you a moment ago as well.”
“What exactly do you mean by ‘mate’?”
“You would call it marriage. When we mate, it is with our one true love. The universe has created someone for all of us to love and join with. When we meet that one, we feel an instant sense of right, of belonging to each other. It is how my species have chosen their true mates since the beginning of time. There are exceptions, there are always those who can’t wait and will sometimes mate with someone they were never meant to mate with and that always causes problems.”
“You might as well lock me up with the other slaves, because no one is going to mate with me.” I locked eyes with him and stared at him until he spoke again.
“If that is what you wish, but I must warn you. Without my protection, any of the males on this ship have the right to try and persuade you to become their mate.” I tried to interrupt but he held up his hands, “They will not force themselves upon you or any other female, but they will try to get your attention in other ways… Most of the males who volunteer for this mission are looking for their mates. About half of the women will become mated to the men on this ship before we even reach our home planet.” He stood up and walked to the door but stopped before opening it.
“Are you certain you would not reconsider and become my mate? I hold a very high rank and your life would be quite comfortable. You would be well taken care of and would want for nothing in life.” He looked me over slowly as I thought on his words.
“I am positive. There is no way on God’s green Earth I would choose to give myself to anyone who kidnapped me. I want to go home and forget about this entire experience.” I huffed out and put my arms around myself in an effort to comfort me. It didn’t help…
“Paris, this is the last time I will offer you my protection. You are intended to be my mate, I feel it. Life as a slave is not one you will enjoy. While we do treat our slaves better than we used to, it is still a very difficult life. One you will experience on this voyage home if you turn me down.” He reached over and took a strand of my hair into his hands and slowly drew it between his thumb and forefinger.
I pulled my hair back, what he was doing was sending small shivers down my spine. That was too intimate of a gesture to accept from my abductor. “I am positive. It would be preferable to rot away as a slave than to be used up as someone’s mate.”
He sighed and lowered his head for a moment, then stood up tall. Man was he tall, and imposing when he put his warrior mask back on. “Very well, but don’t come to me when you find that you don’t have enough food or warmth on this trip.” He proceeded to open the door and he grabbed my arm rather forcefully and hauled me over to one of the cages in the other room.
“Open cage A-1, process this slave but make sure she gets extra in her evening meal.” He took one last look at me and then walked away as another alien took me by the arm. I heard Venay say something about putting his uniform on and then he would be on the bridge.

worlds-away-sqaure3Excerpt Three…

My heart was still pumping an hour later, and my adrenaline seemed to be burning out. I was exhausted just sitting there holding tight to the laser gun as well as to the couch every time our ship was hit. I wanted to say that I could hear the laser cannons fire, or whatever they called them on this ship. But I knew it must be my imagination creating the sounds in order to keep track of the fighting somehow.
However, I really did hear some of the torpedoes going back and forth. It was a weird sound, almost like Superman flying super-fast through a tunnel and taking all sound with him through that tunnel. Then it was super quiet for less than half a second which was always followed by a loud bang and then the ship would jerk one way or another. At least there was a warning sound before the torpedoes hit. They packed the most punch.
The next hit, well, it was almost what killed us. The ship started to tilt, like it had lost its stabilizers or something, but we must have gotten a good hit on them as well because another hit didn’t come for a while. I could feel us limping along. Since we were slanted, Lisa and I had to hold on tight to the couch. I had never been so happy to see furniture tied to the ground before. Some of the knickknacks and loose items like chairs and pillows were flying around as we tried to get away from the enemy ship.
We turned and headed to something, at the time I didn’t know what. But at least we weren’t getting shot at any more. It seemed like days before we made it to the planet. The only reason I knew we were at the planet is because Venay called me, again.
“Venay, I am fine. No need to worry about me.”
“Thank the moons! But I am calling to warn you, this next bit is going to get very difficult. There should be a place in the quarters you are in where you can strap yourself to a fold down chair on the wall. Find that and get your butt in it now. We are going to try landing this ship on the planet before the enemy can catch up to us. But with the damage, re-entry is going to make for a very bumpy flight. Can you do that?”
“Yes, I can. Thank you Venay.”
He grunted and then hung up. “Lisa is there a set of fold down emergency chairs that we can lock ourselves into? You know, like the jump seats on a commercial flight?”
“Yes, in the back bedroom. There are two seats there. What’s going on?”
“What did Rotna say when he called you?”
“He tried to tell me what was going one, but was told to focus on his task, not his mate.” Her cheeks actually turned a shade of pink. I wondered when they were planning their ceremony.
“Glad to know he is fine.”
“Why do we need to do this? Is the ship getting worse?” Lisa asked, with wide eyes.
“Yes, we are approaching the planet and going to attempt to land before the enemy ship can catch us. The re-entry is going to be tough.” We made it to the back room and found the seats. There were a few things that had blocked our way, but we moved them without much issue.
It was a good thing Venay called to warn me, because we weren’t even buckled in when I felt the ship jerking and shaking like an amusement park ride about to go off the rails.
My teeth hurt so bad within just the first two minutes, I thought they might all be cracked, first from the chattering they were doing with the way we jumbled around and then from the pressure I put on my mouth to stay closed. Somewhere along the way I had bit my tongue and it hurt.
I couldn’t say how long it took for us to get through the atmosphere, but it felt like forever. I could tell when we made it because we started to smooth out and the ship wasn’t jerking so badly. The loud noise that almost made me deaf had also quieted down, now it was more like a ball whistling through the air. Although, my head was pounding and my body ached from all of the jostling and clenching. I don’t think I have ever held on to anything as tightly as those restraints, ever!
“Lisa, you ok?”
“Did we make it?” She looked around the room wide eyed and I could see she had been crying. Her face was streaked with the paths her tears left. But I couldn’t blame her. I was pretty scared myself and if I hadn’t survived five years on the streets I would have probably been crying as well.
“So far. I don’t think we have landed yet. So stay seated until we are told we can move. I have a feeling we are going to feel the landing as well.”
The ship was still tilted and the seats were very uncomfortable, we were slanted to the left so the belts that made up the restraints were digging into my left side. It felt like one of those carnival rides where you went around in circles but you were hanging on one side and the ride seat was digging into your entire side. It was similar to that, but worse.
“Lisa, tell me about the plans you and Rotna have made for your wedding. When do you want it to take place?” She looked like she might get hysterical any moment. Her eyes were all over the place and she was having trouble breathing. But she didn’t look injured, unless the belts did something internally.
“Huh? What? Oh, yea, wedding. Ummm, we spoke about it last night. Weworlds-away-square agreed that we wanted it to happen as soon as we could get some time on the Commander’s schedule. Do you think he will have time tomorrow?” She was dazed, I wasn’t sure she understood what was happening. How could she if she was thinking Venay could marry them tomorrow, after crash landing on a planet while in a firefight with a pretty heavily armed enemy ship?
“Lisa, do you know what just happened?” I wished at that moment I could get out of my seat, but I knew there was no way it would be safe until after we made landing.
“Yes, we are landing on a planet.”
“Because we just got our butts kicked in a firefight with an enemy ship. There won’t be time to get married, not at least for a while. I couldn’t even tell you how long it will take to fix our ship. Or if the Zateelians will come for us. Lisa, I need you to focus. Can you do that?” Her eyes were still glazed over and her mouth was hanging open. She kept moving her head like she was listening to some music somewhere.
Just then I got a communication from Venay, “Paris, are you ok?”
“Yes, both Lisa and I are ok. She might have some internal injuries, but I think she is ok. However, she appears to be in shock. How much longer before we land?”
“We came in too fast, so I have to keep her flying as long as possible to slow down, which means we won’t be close to the settlement here. But they will come for us and help us soon. Stay in your seats. Don’t move until I tell you, ok?”
“Of course, I am betting we will feel it when we land?”
“Yes, I am afraid you will. And Paris, don’t say anything, but Rotna is hurt, badly. Lisa might know. If he called her before he went unconscious then she knows. But don’t say anything until we land and you can check her out. Ok?”
“Ok, thank you. Um, any news about the enemy ship? Are they following us?”
He sighed and I knew it was bad, “Yes, they are heavily damaged, but they did make it through. However, they are not very close to us. They will have to crash land as well so we should have some time before they come looking for us or the settlement. I just hope that they aren’t able to crash very close to the settlement.”

Blurb:

Trauma, isolation, courage, love. . .  Anxious Love

Hopeful about his future after overcoming loss, Ryan Ware is living his dream life as a first round draft pick. He’s enjoying every crazy minute of fame, fortune, and gorgeous women.

Despite being the most sought-after writer in romance, severe anxiety keeps Leah Jones isolated. Having a regimented life keeps the triggers at bay that could put her back in the hospital, perhaps permanently.

A chance meeting in New Orleans, Leah’s brown eyes capture Ryan’s heart, and he vows to learn more about this reclusive beauty.

Can Leah’s anxieties withstand Ryan’s crazy life? Can Ryan learn enough about real love to be the right man for Leah?

Anxious Love contains explicit scenes of a sexual nature and is not suitable for readers under 18 years of age.

Excerpt One…

“You’re close,” he whispered. “I can feel it.”
“Yes.”
“Wait for me,” he said, his breath throaty and ragged from the strain.
“I can’t,” I said, clenching my insides, which further pushed me closer to the edge.
“Look at me.” I focused on his face. I took note of the small tick in his eyes as he moved faster. The way his breath warmed my face as he pounded in me. I zoned in on the feel of his cock inside me, the tightness he pushed through to reach my core. When he tensed, I saw it on his face and felt it in his body. His hand cupped my pussy from underneath and he ran his fingers over my clit. Our orgasm hit at the same time in a mind-altering quake of mind, body, and soul.
As we came down, we held on to each other tight as if the quake would dare attempt to tear us apart. No, we were together. Melded, tethered, bound together by need, desire, and lust.
Maybe by love.
We were made for each other.

Excerpt Two…

Because of my anxiety, I perceived the world differently. The medicine helped, but when it wore off, it wasn’t like Cinderella’s carriage turning back into a pumpkin at precisely midnight.
It was more subtle, more gradual. It was a whole different way of reacting to the world, and it took a little more concentration. Something I couldn’t do with him studying me.
But then he rubbed his hand up my arm and he licked his lips and leaned into me and the world slowed down.
“Hey, you okay?”
I concentrated on his voice but couldn’t stop staring at his lips. I tried to pull my gaze away from them, from him, but I couldn’t. His facial expressions made me feel adored, and I didn’t want to miss a thing.
I leaned in further to get a better look, but my eyes closed and the next thing I knew, his lips touched mine. I pulled back a little and opened my eyes. The world caught up to whatever dimension we were in. It was much too abrupt for the moment, and I felt on the verge of a panic attack, but then I thought, maybe …
I closed my eyes, leaned in, and kissed him again. My lips parted and I licked them, but my tongue rubbed against his lips and retreated. We were so close. His lips shifted into a grin, and I parted my lips in surprise. He reached his hand behind my neck and pulled me closer as his tongue entered between mine.
A muffled giggled escaped, and I was surprised to find it came from me. It disappeared into his mouth, which made him grin and pull back. The world stayed calm as I thought about how his lips felt on mine. His tongue swiped against my tongue with confidence. I opened my eyes and peered into his. They were no longer light; they had a definite dark hue and the color swarmed as if wondering how to take in the person they saw before them.
Is it possible that I found something else to balance me?
I leaned back, but as his hand slipped away from my cheek, I placed my hand on it to keep him firmly in place. I looked off to my right and the streetcar clinked by and people were strolling down St. Charles Avenue. I turned to my left and watched a group of kids cut across the park on their way home from school.
I turned back to Ryan and smiled. He smiled back, and to thank him, I kissed him.
I removed my hand from his, satisfied it would stay where I wanted it. My hand reached out to touch his chest. I wanted to confirm it was as solid as I imagined. My brief hug a few nights before had only hinted at it.
I touched his skin peeking out the top of his t-shirt and ran my knuckle across the top. It was his turn to shiver, but it deepened the kiss as his tongue pressed into my mouth. I flatted my head on his chest and pressed back; he was solid, unmovable. He laid a soft little kiss on my mouth before pulling back and looking down at my hand splayed across his chest.
His face tilted and he stared with a sexy grin.
“Did you just kiss me?” he asked in a whispered tone.

Excerpt Three…

I peeked a look and saw the concerned look on her face.
“Hey, little one.” I ran my hand over the crease in her brow. “You okay?”
“I haven’t done this in a long time, and I really want to, but . . .” She continued to stroke me, and I grabbed her hand and placed it on her stomach and sat up on my knees.
“But what?”
“Please don’t laugh at me, but is it going to fit?”
Okay, I had to laugh.
I reached down and rubbed myself against her folds, coating it with her juices. She moaned and squealed. I pressed two fingers inside her and she pushed back onto them.
She squeezed herself on my fingers. “See, there’s plenty of room.” She groaned as I rubbed her clit and continued to move my fingers in and out. We both knew I was lying, but I wanted to make her feel better. It was going to be tight. I bit my lip in anticipation. She convulsed against my fingers and threw her head back as she came.
I smiled. It was going to feel so good.

***
“Okay, wait. Stop,” I said and reached out for his hand. He laced his fingers with mine.
“You okay?” Ryan asked a look of concerned torture on his face. He held back to make me comfortable.
“Yeah, um,” I began but stopped and tried to figure out the best way to put this. “You are so perfect. I just need to get used to it.”
He laughed.
“Oh, ow.” I scooted away from him.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” he said. “Don’t make me laugh.”
“Okay, good point.” He pressed back into me and stopped. I couldn’t speak. I only
hummed. I flexed around him, and his cock twitched. I moaned. “Okay, move. Slowly.”
He moved inside me. My mind raced. It felt so good and hurt at the same time.
“Keep doing that, please.”
“Why so formal, little one?” he asked and pushed in me farther.
“Oh fuck,” I whispered.
“That’s more like it.” He grinned.

I have it all: my dream career as a Formula 1 driver, more money than I can spend, crowds who cheer my name “Teo Coates,” and an endless supply of beautiful women to warm my bed as I travel the world.

I should be happy. I should love my life.

But none of it means anything without her.

One year ago, the love of my life broke off our two-year relationship via a phone call. No explanation, no apology, and no sign it was coming. She shattered me…ripped out my heart. And the worst part is that I couldn’t stay to fight for her without losing my career.

However, now the racing season’s over, I’m back, and I intend to reclaim my girl’s heart.

There’s just one problem.

The girl I left behind no longer exists. Plagued by fear, something has broken Raine Wilkins to the point where she’s struggling to cope with each day. It’s going to take all of my skill to gather the explanation I was denied a year ago and persuade her to reveal her secrets. But if there’s one thing I can guarantee, it’s I never lose. I returned to the UK with one goal: win back the girl I love, and nothing and no one will get in my way.

Blurb:
She’s toxic.

Everyone tells me to leave her—that she’s going to destroy me.

But things aren’t that simple.

Elora’s pregnant with my child and I endure her twisted games of manipulation and violence to protect my unborn baby. I never predicted she would do the unthinkable or that she was cruel enough to kill.

Yet she did, and now everything’s spiralling out of control.

The light-hearted jokester on the race track isn’t a part I can play anymore. The Dustin Coates everyone loved is no longer me. I’m merely a grief-stricken man who’s barely able to function.

At least until Tazia Nixon moves in next door.

She soothes my aching heart and helps me forget. With every second I’m around her, I can feel myself being revived.

However, beneath her eternal optimism is a distressing past, and the lies are starting to unravel around me. I should have protected my fragile heart from her when I had the chance because now it’s too late. Someone out there wants to destroy me, and the odds are stacking up against us. They know Tazia can break me beyond repair, and they aren’t afraid to use her.

Stolen Breath

Coming December 5th

Blurb

My name is Zeke Lawson, but you probably know that already because everyone’s heard of me.

I’m the bad boy of Formula One.
The player.
The heartbreaker.

At least that’s what I allow people to believe.

The truth is too precious to be tarnished by reporters, and no matter what my fans think, they don’t deserve access to every detail of my life. It’s just a shame Nadine Hadley doesn’t see it that way.

She’s writing the feature every driver longs for on me—the one that can make your career. The only problem is she wants more than I’m willing to give her … and she’s playing dirty to get it.

Flirtatious smiles, skimpy dresses, sex: Nadine is using my reputation against me, and it’s working. No man could resist her, especially when she swears not to print my story.

So now I’m in too deep.

I want her more than anything, yet falling for a journalist may cost me the one thing I vowed to protect. Although, that seems insignificant when compared to another issue I face this racing season.

Did I forget to mention someone is trying to kill me?

Author Bio

My love for steamy romance began when I was in junior high. A friend and I came upon a dumpster of discarded paperbacks behind our small town’s Ben Franklin store. The covers were missing and each book was torn in two, split right down the center of the spline, but I found that to be no obstacle as I scanned each page looking for any love or lust words—and curse words, too. It wasn’t long before I was scouring the public library and our local discount store, devouring anything labeled romance. I said a tearfully grateful goodbye to Judy Bloom as Jackie Collins began ruling my world.

I live with my high school sweetheart turned husband and our three, beloved DVR’s, in the desert Southwest. Otherwise known as the surface of the sun during the summer months.

My life long goals are to think before I speak, smile more and swear less, and actually weigh what my driver’s license states I do. And I have been contemplating a hair color change for the last decade. I’m thinking red.

Excerpt

“What happened at the lake?” I interrupt, my jealousy nagging at me, wanting to know every single detail.

“Not much. Cinderella painted her toenails when we first got there. Then she floated around the lake on a small air mattress and on the way back asked if your name was really Viking.”

Saint leans forward. “No fucking way. Her name’s Cinderella? The blonde one? I bet she’s a goddamn fairy tale in bed,” he finishes, eyeing Sinner.

Letting loose a deep growl, I slam my fist down on the table, hard enough to make the drinks bounce and everyone jump to catch them. I swear if he speaks about fucking her again I’m going to lose my shit. I’m not nearly buzzed enough to deal with bullshit comments about the woman I recently killed for.

“Damn, Vike, my bad.” He holds his hands up in surrender. He’s seen me get pissed, and no way in hell would Sinner be able to save his ass from my wrath.
